Marmaris Buggy Safari; A 3-hour off-road adventure tour from Marmaris, Icmeler, Turunc and Hisaronu — no driving licence required, hotel transfer included, pay on the day.

There’s a specific moment on the Marmaris buggy safari that sells the whole tour to people, and it happens about fifteen minutes into the ride. You’ve just had your briefing, done the training loop, and you’re starting to trust the machine underneath you. Then the guide ahead slows, points into a long shallow pool of muddy brown water, and you realise — he’s not going around it. A few seconds later you’re dunked to the windows, wiping water off your face, laughing like you haven’t since you were about fourteen.

Last August a gentleman from Liverpool called Jack finished the run, walked up to us at the staging area with mud still in his eyebrows, and said: “I’ve never driven anything this much fun in my life. If I had more time on my holiday, I’d come back and do it again tomorrow.” He genuinely meant it. We get versions of that sentence every week, but Jack’s has stuck with us — probably because he was wearing more mud than clothes at that point.

We’ve been running the Marmaris buggy safari since 2014 out of Magia Travel, and the version of the tour we offer today is the one we’ve refined over the years based on what actually makes people smile at the end of the three hours. It’s not the longest off-road tour in the region. It’s not the cheapest either. What it is, genuinely, is the cleanest mix of proper off-road terrain, good safety standards, and the kind of guide team that treats every group like it’s their first one of the season.

What Is the Marmaris Buggy Safari?

A buggy safari is the grown-up version of what most people imagine when they hear “off-road adventure.” You get a purpose-built two-seater off-road vehicle — fully automatic, no gears, no clutch, no stalling anxiety — and you drive it in convoy along a 25-kilometre track through forest, dirt, mud pits and shallow river crossings. An instructor leads from the front, a second instructor sweeps from the back, and the whole route is closed to regular traffic.

You don’t need a driving licence. You don’t need off-road experience. You don’t even need to have driven a car recently. If you can press an accelerator and hold a steering wheel, you can do this. The minimum age to drive is 14; anyone younger comes along as a passenger with a parent or older sibling, which is genuinely half the fun for kids.

The track itself sits in the hills behind Hisaronu, about 20 minutes from Marmaris centre. It’s one of the reasons we chose this operator partner — the terrain here is roughly 80% genuine natural trail. Real forest floor, real mud from real rain, real stream crossings. Some of the obstacles have been shaped a bit over the years to make them safer, but the feeling is “we’re driving through a valley”, not “we’re driving around a theme park loop”.

Why Our Marmaris Buggy Safari Stands Out

There are other buggy tours in Marmaris. I’ll be honest with you about that — if you Google “Marmaris buggy safari” you’ll find half a dozen operators. Here’s what we think makes ours worth booking:

The fleet is properly maintained. Every buggy goes through a check at the start of the day and another between sessions. You won’t be handed a vehicle with a sticky accelerator or a roll cage that someone forgot to bolt down last week. We’ve been doing this long enough to know exactly how these machines wear, and we replace parts before they fail.

The briefing is 30 full minutes, not the 5-minute rush some operators do to squeeze more sessions into a day. That includes a practice loop around a small warm-up track before you join the main convoy, so you actually know what the throttle does before you’re at a mud pit. Instructors give the briefing in English, German or Russian depending on the group.

Every buggy has a proper roll cage and a seatbelt for both driver and passenger. Helmets are provided and included in the price. Safety might sound boring to read about on a tour page, but on a machine that jumps through mud at speed, it’s the thing you care about most about eleven seconds in.

And the small things: we treat every booking the same way, whether it’s one solo driver or a group of twenty. No tiered service based on how many seats you filled. Prices are fixed — what you see on the site is what you pay, no seasonal mark-ups, no “today only” discounts that magically appear if you hesitate.

The Four Daily Sessions — and Which One I’d Recommend

The Marmaris buggy safari runs four sessions every day from April through October:

Morning session (pickup 10:00, return around 13:00) — the track is freshest, the light is soft, and if it rained the night before the mud is at its best. This is the session most of our families pick.

Noon session (pickup 12:00, return around 15:00) — hot in midsummer, but the fewest crowds on the track because most people are at lunch or on a boat.

Afternoon session (pickup 14:00, return around 17:00) — the classic time slot, usually the busiest. If you want guaranteed good atmosphere and lots of laughter echoing through the convoy, this is your slot.

Sunset session (pickup 16:00, return around 19:00) — my personal recommendation, if you want me to be honest about it. The heat is dropping, the dust catches the low sun beautifully, and by the time you finish, the Marmaris hills are turning that pink-orange colour you only get for about 40 minutes a day. It’s also the session I’d pick for photographs.

All four are equally enjoyable and use the same track. Pick whichever fits your holiday day.

Your Day on the Marmaris Buggy Safari Tour

Before the Ride — Pickup and Arrival

Our minibuses collect you from your hotel at the start of your chosen session. Pickup is included at no extra charge from Marmaris centre, Siteler, Armutalan, Icmeler, Turunc and Hisaronu — no matter which resort you’re staying in along this stretch, we come to you and we bring you back. If you’re outside these areas, drop us a WhatsApp and we’ll confirm timing the day before.

The drive to the track takes about 20 minutes. You’ll go inland from Marmaris, the road lifts into the pine hills, and by the time you step out of the minibus you’re in proper Turkish forest country. The staging area has the buggies lined up, a briefing shelter, toilets, and the changing rooms you’ll need after. We don’t rush anyone off the bus.

    Briefing and Warm-Up (30 minutes)

This is where your experience on the tour is actually shaped, and it’s the part many operators skip. Our instructors walk you around the vehicle first — where the ignition is, how the throttle responds, the brake, the steering lock, the seatbelt, the passenger grab handle. Nothing complicated, but everything explained slowly enough that you actually remember it.

Then you’re in your buggy for a warm-up loop on a smaller training track. Five minutes. You’ll learn how much pressure the accelerator wants, how sharp the turning is, how the brake bites. People always come off this loop visibly more relaxed than they went on.

The Main Ride — 25 km, about 1 hour 15 minutes

The convoy heads out with the lead instructor at the front. The pace is set for the group — never too slow to be boring, never faster than the least experienced driver can comfortably follow. Over the next 75 minutes you’ll go through:

Forest tracks winding between pine trees. Open dirt stretches where you can finally open the throttle. Mud pits (the ones you’ll laugh about for days). Shallow stream crossings where the water comes up past the wheels. A couple of gentle gradients where the buggy’s suspension does what it was built for.

Somewhere around the middle, there’s usually a break — water stop, a photo opportunity on a ridge, stretch your legs. This is also when kids tend to turn into small maniacs and start splashing each other in the nearest puddle, which is a regular feature of our tours and honestly one of the best things about running them.

A note on getting wet and muddy: you will. There’s no dry version of this tour. The track includes water and mud as built-in features, not optional ones. If you want to stay clean, this isn’t the tour for you — book our Marmaris all-inclusive boat trip instead. If you’re okay with coming home looking like you’ve been through a storm, keep reading.

After the Ride — Showers, Changing and Transfer Back

When the convoy rolls back into the staging area, you’ll hand in the buggy, grab your bag, and head to the changing rooms. There are showers on site and private spaces to change out of your muddy clothes. This is why we always tell guests to bring a towel and a full change of clothing — you’ll want it.

Once everyone’s cleaned up, the minibuses are waiting. We drop you back at your hotel in the reverse order of the morning pickup. Most guests are back at their door within 30-40 minutes of leaving the track.

    Prices — What You’ll Pay

Our Marmaris buggy safari is priced per person, by role rather than by age:

Driver (age 14+): £29. This covers your use of the buggy, round-trip hotel transfer, helmet, instructor, safety briefing and full insurance.

Passenger (age 13+): £5. You ride alongside a driver, get the full experience without the steering wheel. Includes transfer, helmet, insurance.

Child passenger (age 3-12): £5. Must ride with a parent or guardian who is driving. Same inclusions as adult passenger.

Infant (0-2): free. On a parent’s lap is not permitted on this tour for safety reasons, so infants typically wait with a non-riding family member at the staging area, or enjoy the pickup/transfer part of the day with siblings.

Fixed prices, no deposit, no online payment required. You book your date and session on our site, and you pay the driver in cash on the day of the tour. If you need to cancel, there’s nothing to refund because nothing was paid upfront — cancellation is 100% free at any stage before pickup.

Who Can Do the Marmaris Buggy Safari?

Almost anyone who’s reasonably mobile and not pregnant. The minimum age to drive is 14, and from that age up through fit 70-year-olds we’ve had guests of every kind on the track.

The tour isn’t suitable during pregnancy or if you have active back, neck or spinal issues. The buggy genuinely bounces — suspension is tuned for off-road, not for smooth roads, and the route includes drops and dips that put real vertical motion through the vehicle. If you’ve had recent surgery, a slipped disc, or any diagnosed spinal condition, this tour is a no. See your doctor if you’re unsure, and honestly, if you’re unsure, pick a different day activity — the Dalyan tour from Marmaris is a beautiful alternative that doesn’t involve any of the bumping.

Children from age 3 can ride as passengers with a driving parent. This is a favourite with families — kids genuinely love the buggy safari, maybe more than any other tour we run. The combination of the noise, the mud, the water splashes and being in what looks (to a kid) like a small monster truck is basically catnip. Most of our young passengers come off wanting to do it again the next day.

What to Bring and What to Wear

You don’t need much, but what you bring matters.

Wear: old clothes and trainers you don’t mind getting filthy, because filthy is what they will be. Closed shoes are a must — no sandals, no flip-flops. A t-shirt and shorts are ideal in summer; in cooler months (April and October), long sleeves are smarter.

Bring: sunglasses or clear safety glasses (protecting your eyes from mud spray is important — we don’t provide these), a bandana or buff for your face (sold in every supermarket in Marmaris for a couple of lira), a towel, a full change of clothes including underwear, closed waterproof footwear to change into for the ride home if you want, and a bit of cash. Water isn’t included on the tour, so either bring a bottle or buy one at the staging area.

Helmets are provided and included. Everything else comes from your bag.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a driving licence for the Marmaris buggy safari?

No. The track is closed to public traffic and the whole ride happens under instructor supervision in a convoy. You don’t need any driving licence, and you don’t need any prior experience. Minimum age to drive is 14.

How long does the Marmaris buggy safari tour last?

About 3 hours total, door to door. That’s roughly 40 minutes of transfers (20 each way), 30 minutes of briefing and warm-up, 75 minutes of main ride, and 25 minutes for changing and cleaning up at the end.

How much is the Marmaris buggy safari?

£29 per driver (age 14+), £5 per passenger (any age including children 3-12), free for under-3s. All prices include hotel transfer, helmet, instructor, safety briefing and insurance. Fixed prices, no deposit, pay on the day.

    Where is the buggy track?

In the hills behind Hisaronu, about 20 minutes inland from Marmaris. The route is 25 kilometres long and runs through pine forest, dirt tracks, mud pits and shallow stream crossings — about 80% genuine natural terrain.

Is the Marmaris buggy safari safe?

Yes, with sensible precautions. Every buggy has a reinforced roll cage and seatbelts. Helmets are provided. Instructors lead the convoy at a pace set for the least experienced driver, and a second instructor sweeps the back. Our vehicles are inspected at the start of every day and maintained between sessions.

Can children join the Marmaris buggy safari?

Yes, as passengers from age 3. They ride with a driving parent or older sibling (minimum 14 to drive). It’s one of our most popular tours with families — kids love the mud and the noise, and the water splashes are usually the highlight of their holiday.

    Do we really get muddy?

Yes. The track is designed around mud and water features, and there’s no way to skip them. If you want a dry off-road experience, a jeep safari is the better choice. If you’re here for the proper buggy experience, prepare to come home looking like you’ve been in a rugby scrum.

    What if it rains?

Light rain doesn’t cancel the tour — the track is arguably more fun in the wet. Heavy storms, strong winds or unsafe conditions can pause or cancel a session, in which case we’ll reschedule you or fully cancel at no cost (no payment was taken, so nothing to refund).

Can I combine the buggy safari with other tours?

Yes. Lots of our guests book the buggy safari for a half-day and then something like a Dalyan day trip or a Marmaris boat trip on another day. Just add multiple tours to your basket and we’ll coordinate the pickup schedule for your stay.

Can I get photos of myself during the ride?

Yes, our team can take photos of you on the track. The photography service is optional and charged separately — prices start from £5 depending on how many shots you want. Tell your guide at the briefing if you’d like photos taken.

Why Book Your Marmaris Buggy Safari with Us

We’ve been running day tours and excursions from Marmaris since 2014 under Magia Travel, a fully TÜRSAB-licensed travel agency. Every tour we offer — buggy, boat, safari, cultural day trip — is fully insured, and every guest we take out is covered by that insurance from the moment we pick them up at the hotel to the moment we drop them back.

What you get with us: fixed prices all season long, no deposit or pre-payment, 100% refund on cancellation (because you never paid upfront), instructors and operators who actually know what they’re doing, and someone at the end of a phone 24 hours a day — often me personally, especially in the evenings. Every booking, one seat or twenty, gets the same attention.

We’re not the biggest tour operator in Marmaris. We prefer it that way — it means nobody falls through the cracks.

    How to Book

Pick your session and date on this page, select whether you want to ride as driver or passenger, and confirm. You’ll get an immediate confirmation email. Pay the driver in cash on the morning of the tour.

Prefer to message instead? WhatsApp and email bookings are welcome, same fixed prices, and we’ll confirm within the hour during the day. If you’re adding this to a broader Marmaris holiday itinerary, drop us a list of what you’d like to do across your stay and we’ll sort out pickup timings so nothing clashes.

The Marmaris buggy safari is the single most consistent “best day of the holiday” feedback we get from guests, especially from families with kids and couples looking for something that isn’t another beach day. It’s three hours, it’s genuinely fun, and if you haven’t come back from your Marmaris holiday with at least one story that involves mud, it’s the tour that fixes that.
