Full-day 4×4 off-road tour from Marmaris with water wars, Turgut Waterfall, traditional village lunch and the famous Kizkumu Beach. Hotel pickup included, pay on the day.

The Marmaris jeep safari is the kind of day out that’s nearly impossible to describe to someone before they’ve done it. You can list the parts — open-top 4×4s through pine forest, a moving water fight in the middle of the convoy, a cold mountain waterfall, lunch in a Turkish village, and an afternoon at one of the strangest beaches in the country — and it still doesn’t quite get across why people come back to the office on the second day of their holiday and rebook this one for their last day too.

It’s the most fun thing we run, by a clear margin. And we’ve been running it since 2014.

I’ll tell you exactly how the day goes, what’s included in the £24 price, who it’s right for and who it isn’t, and answer the questions we get from guests every single week. By the end you’ll know whether this is the right tour for your Marmaris holiday or whether one of our calmer trips like the Dalyan Turtle Beach tour or the Marmaris all-inclusive boat trip suits you better.

What Makes the Marmaris Jeep Safari Different

Marmaris is full of jeep safari operators. I’d be lying if I said ours is the only good one. But here’s what we’ve built our version around, and why our guests stick with us:

Our drivers are trained, professional chauffeurs who know the route the way you know the walk to your kitchen. They’ve done it hundreds of times. They drive at sensible speeds, they know which corners the kids in the back will scream on, and they know exactly where to stop the convoy so the photo turns out properly. The jeeps themselves are mostly Land Rover Defenders and similar open-top 4×4s, all designed and equipped for safari use, all roll-cage protected.

Our prices are fixed and the same for everyone — the British family from Yorkshire pays exactly the same as the Turkish family from Istanbul, the same as the German couple from Hamburg. No haggling, no surge pricing, no “today only” discounts that magically appear if you walk away. Our drivers and crew never ask for tips; if a guest wants to tip at the end, that’s their choice, but it’s never expected.

And like all our tours, you don’t pay anything until the day. No deposit, no card pre-authorisation, no online payment. You book your spot, we pick you up, you pay the driver in cash. If you need to cancel for any reason at any point before pickup, there’s nothing to refund because nothing was paid — cancellation is 100% free, always.

That’s the bit most online booking platforms don’t offer. We’ve been doing it this way for over a decade because it’s the right way to do it.

Who This Tour Is For (And Who It Isn’t)

Before we get into the day itself, let me be straight about whether this trip is for you. Because the marketing photos make every jeep safari look like the same thing, and they really aren’t.

This tour is great for: active families with kids aged 4 and up, couples who want a fun day rather than a romantic one, friend groups, hen parties (yes, we get a lot of those), older guests who don’t mind a bit of bumping around, and pretty much anyone who’s reached day four of their holiday and decided they need something other than another sunbed.

This tour is not great for: anyone with a bad back, neck or spine condition, women who are pregnant, very small babies (technically allowed but we honestly don’t recommend it — the road is bumpy and the water gets everywhere), or people who really don’t want to get wet. Because you will get wet. There’s no graceful way to opt out of the water fight when you’re sitting in an open-top jeep being driven through a convoy of other jeeps with hoses.

If “wet, dusty, slightly chaotic, ends with you laughing” sounds like a great day, this is your tour. If “calm, scenic, with a glass of wine on a boat” sounds better, look at our boat trips instead.

Your Marmaris Jeep Safari, Hour by Hour

    09:30 — Hotel Pickup

We collect you in the morning from your hotel, no extra charge, no matter where in the area you’re staying. The pickup zone covers Marmaris centre, Siteler, Armutalan, Icmeler, Turunc and Hisaronu. Just give us your hotel name when you book and we’ll work out the timing. If you’re staying somewhere a bit further out, drop us a WhatsApp message and we’ll confirm everything the evening before.

The pickup vehicles are minibuses, not the jeeps themselves. The jeeps wait for everyone at the meeting point so the convoy can start together.

    10:00 — The Convoy Forms

Once the whole group has arrived at the meeting point, the convoy of 5 to 8 open-top jeeps lines up. Each jeep takes 8 to 10 passengers depending on the mix of adults and kids. You don’t get to pick your driver, but you do get to pick which jeep you ride in — so if you’ve come with friends or family, you can all stay together. Couples sometimes split up so they can soak each other later. Worth thinking about.

This is also where the guides give you a brief introduction in English (German and Russian available on request) — what the day looks like, where we’re going, the water war rules (yes, there are rules), and the safety basics for the route.

    10:15 — Marmaris Viewpoint

The first stop on the route is a panoramic viewpoint overlooking Marmaris bay. The road climbs out of the town centre and up into the pine hills, and within fifteen minutes you’re looking down on the whole resort from above — the harbour, the marina, the sweep of the bay all the way to Icmeler in one frame. We stop the convoy here for a proper photo break. Most people get their best holiday photo of the trip at this stop, especially if you’ve come with a group.

10:45 — The Water War Begins

This is the part that makes the tour. You’re back in the jeeps, the convoy starts moving, and somewhere along the next stretch of road the first water gun comes out. Then several. Then everyone’s wet.

Here’s how it works. We provide the water guns ourselves — you don’t need to bring anything. There are large water carboys in each jeep with a hand pump on top, so when your gun runs out you can refill it on the move. Adults get full-size guns, and we keep smaller ones for younger kids — just ask one of the team and we’ll pass you one.

The convoy travels at about 30-40 km/h through this section, which is fast enough to feel exciting but slow enough that everyone can aim properly. Drivers stay in formation. Jeeps pull alongside each other on the wider stretches of road. People shriek. Kids absolutely lose it with happiness. The dust on the road turns to mud on your t-shirt. By the time the convoy slows down at the next stop, every person on the tour is soaked through and grinning.

The water war isn’t just for kids or groups of twenty-somethings — though they love it. One of our favourite moments last season was watching Thomas, 70 years old, and his wife Victoria going at it with the younger guests in the jeep alongside them, water guns at full stretch, laughing like they were on a school trip. They didn’t just join in; they were the loudest ones in the whole convoy. The rest of us were a bit speechless, and the rest of the guests on the tour still talk about that day.

Most people would happily extend this part of the day. An hour of soaking and laughing goes very, very quickly.

The water war isn’t constant — it happens in bursts during the longer stretches of road between stops. So you do get breathing breaks. But it’s the part of the tour everyone remembers.

    12:00 — Turgut Waterfall

After the dust and the water and the laughing, the convoy pulls up at Turgut Waterfall. This is in Turgut Village, about 30 km west of Marmaris, deep in the pine forest. The waterfall drops about 5 metres into a shallow rock pool, and the water comes straight off the mountain — meaning it’s properly cold, even in August.

Swimming here is completely optional. If you want to walk down to the pool and stand under the falls, you can, and the cold-shock-then-relief sensation is one of the best parts of the day for some people. If you’d rather just take photos and explore the area on foot, that’s also fine — there are plenty of small paths around the waterfall and the natural setting is beautiful in itself. Plenty of guests stay dry here and just enjoy the change of scenery.

We give about 20-30 minutes at this stop, which is plenty of time for either option.

12:45 — Lunch in Turgut Village

Back in the jeeps for a short drive to lunch. Turgut Village is a traditional Turkish mountain village — proper village, not a tourist setup. Stone houses, chickens in the yards, old men playing backgammon outside the tea house. The kind of place that hasn’t really changed since the 1970s.

Lunch is an open buffet served at the village restaurant. You’ll get grilled chicken from the barbecue, rice, pasta, fresh seasonal salads, and bread. It’s proper Turkish cooking — generous portions, fresh ingredients, no surprises. Vegetarian options are always available; just let your guide know during the briefing if you have specific dietary needs and the kitchen will sort you out.

Drinks at lunch (soft drinks, beer, wine) are extra and paid separately at the table — usually a couple of quid for a soft drink, a bit more for a beer. Bring some cash for this.

Lunch takes about an hour. There’s no rush.

14:00 — Kizkumu Beach (Jesus Beach)

After lunch the convoy heads to the highlight stop of the afternoon: Kizkumu Beach, also called Jesus Beach by some of the older British guidebooks because of what you can do there.

Kizkumu is a 600-metre natural sandbar that runs straight out into the bay. From the shore it just looks like a strip of sand at the edge of the beach. But when you walk out onto it, you can keep walking — and walking — and walking, all the way across the bay, with the sea no higher than your ankles or knees. From a distance it genuinely looks like you’re walking on water. The legend behind the name is romantic — supposedly an Anatolian princess used the path to escape pirates — but you don’t need the story. The place is unusual enough on its own.

You get a full hour at Kizkumu. Most people split the time between walking the sandbar (it takes about 15 minutes to walk to the end), swimming in the warm water on either side of it, and lying on the beach. There are beach kiosks, snack bars, restaurants and small souvenir shops along the front if you want a cold drink, an ice cream, or a sandwich. None of this is included in the tour price, but it’s all reasonable.

This is the calmest part of the day after all the morning chaos. People either nap on the sand or end up wading the full length of the sandbar with the sea around their ankles, taking photos that look impossible.

15:00 — The Drive Back to Marmaris

Back into the jeeps for the journey home. The route returns through the pine forest tracks, and by this point the dust has settled, the water guns are stowed, and most people are happily quiet. The road home goes through some of the prettiest mountain forest in the area — windows open, breeze through the trees, the smell of pine. It’s a genuinely peaceful 45 minutes after a chaotic day.

We drop everyone back at their hotels in the reverse order of the morning pickup. Most guests are showered and on their balcony by 5pm with a story to tell at dinner.

[BOOK NOW · £24 per adult · Children half price · Pay on the day]

What to Wear and What to Bring

Wear clothes you don’t mind ruining. Old t-shirt, old shorts, a pair of trainers or non-slip sandals you don’t care about. The combination of red dust from the road and the soaking from the water war means everything you’re wearing will end the day a different colour to how it started. Don’t wear your nice holiday shirt.

    Bring:

    • A towel (you’ll need it after the waterfall, the beach, and just generally)
    • A change of clothes for the trip back if you don’t want to sit damp in the jeep
    • Sunglasses (essential — the road dust gets in your eyes during the water war)
    • Sun cream (high SPF, the open-top jeep gives no shade)
    • Hat or cap (something that won’t blow away)
    • A waterproof phone case if you want to film the water war (a few lira from any supermarket in Marmaris)
    • Small cash for drinks at lunch and snacks at Kizkumu
    • Swimsuit underneath, in case you decide to swim at the waterfall or at Kizkumu

That’s it. Water guns, lunch, transfers, towels at the meeting point if you forget yours — everything else is covered.

Is the Marmaris Jeep Safari Safe?

Yes, and we take this seriously because it’s an active tour with kids on board.

Every jeep is roll-cage protected and fitted with seatbelts in the back. Drivers are trained professional chauffeurs who do this route every day; they know every corner. Maximum speed during travel is around 50 km/h on the open road, and during the water war section the convoy travels at a sensible pace where everyone stays in line. The whole route is on tracks closed to regular traffic — you won’t be sharing the road with cars or trucks.

Comprehensive travel insurance is included for every passenger from the moment we pick you up to the moment we drop you off.

The route involves bumpy mountain roads — that’s the whole point of a jeep safari. It’s not extreme; it’s not the kind of off-roading that throws you out of your seat. But there’s vertical motion through the day, and that’s why we don’t recommend the tour for pregnant women, anyone with active back or neck conditions, or guests with diagnosed spinal issues.

Can Children Join the Marmaris Jeep Safari?

Yes, and they tend to love it more than the adults do. Kids from age 3 can join as paying passengers (£12), and infants under 3 are technically free, but honestly, we usually advise against bringing very young babies on this tour. The road is bumpy, the water fight is unavoidable, and the day is long. If you’re travelling with a baby and there’s no option to leave them with another family member, talk to us beforehand and we’ll discuss what extra precautions can be arranged — it’s not impossible, but it’s not the easiest day for a tiny passenger.

For kids from about 4 upwards, this is genuinely one of the best days of their holiday. The water guns, the convoy, the village lunch, the walk on water at Kizkumu — it’s the tour they talk about for months afterwards.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the Marmaris jeep safari last?

About 6 hours door to door. Pickup from your hotel is at 09:30 in the morning, and drop-off back at your hotel is around 16:00.

Do I drive the jeep myself?

No — our professional drivers handle the driving. You and your group ride in the open back of the jeep, taking part in the water war, enjoying the views, and getting in and out at each stop. This is what makes the tour suitable for all ages and abilities, including kids and older guests.

How much is the Marmaris jeep safari?

£24 per adult (age 13+), £12 per child (age 3-12), free for under-3s. Hotel transfer, lunch, water guns, guide, insurance and all entrance fees are included. No deposit, pay on the day.

    Where does the tour go?

The route covers Marmaris viewpoint, the water war section through pine forest tracks, Turgut Waterfall, lunch in Turgut Village, and Kizkumu Beach (Jesus Beach), then back to your hotel via the mountain forest road.

    Is lunch included?

Yes — a traditional Turkish open buffet lunch at a restaurant in Turgut Village. Grilled chicken, rice, pasta, salads, bread. Vegetarian options available on request. Drinks (soft drinks, beer, wine) are extra and paid at the table.

    Will I really get wet?

Yes. The water war is built into the day and there’s no dry version of this tour. If you want to stay dry, this isn’t the right trip for you. Try our Marmaris all-inclusive boat trip instead.

    Can children join?

Yes — children from age 3 can join (£12). Smaller water guns are provided on request. We recommend the tour from about age 4 upwards; under-3s are technically allowed but the bumpy ride and constant water spray make it less suitable for very young babies.

    What if it rains?

Light rain doesn’t stop the tour — the jeep is open-top and you’re already getting wet from the water war. Severe weather (storms, strong winds) can lead to a postponement, in which case we’ll let you know in advance and either reschedule you to another day or swap your booking for a different tour at no charge.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Nothing — there’s nothing to cancel because there’s no payment. We don’t take deposits or online payments. If you need to cancel at any stage before pickup, just message us and we’ll remove your booking. 100% free, no questions.

Where do you pick up from?

Hotel pickup is included from Marmaris centre, Siteler, Armutalan, Icmeler, Turunc and Hisaronu. For other areas, message us beforehand and we’ll arrange it.

Can I combine the jeep safari with other tours?

Yes, lots of guests do. Add the Dalyan Turtle Beach tour or the Marmaris buggy safari on different days during your stay, and we’ll coordinate the pickup schedule across the whole holiday.

Why Book Your Marmaris Jeep Safari with Us

We’ve been running tours from Marmaris since 2014 under Magia Travel, a fully TURSAB-licensed travel agency with all required certifications. Every tour we run — jeep, buggy, boat, day trip — is fully insured, and that insurance covers every guest from hotel pickup to hotel drop-off.

What we offer that the big booking platforms don’t: fixed prices for all guests regardless of nationality or season, no advance payment or deposit, 100% free cancellation, drivers and crew who never expect or ask for tips, and someone at the end of a phone or WhatsApp 24 hours a day. Often that someone is me personally.

We’re not the biggest tour operator in Marmaris and we don’t try to be. Smaller convoys, more attention, every guest looked after properly. That’s the model.

    How to Book

Pick your date on this page, choose how many adults and kids, and confirm. You’ll get an immediate confirmation email. Pay the driver in cash on the morning of the tour.

Prefer WhatsApp or email? Both welcome — same fixed prices, no booking platform mark-up. Send us your dates, hotel name and number of guests, and we’ll confirm within the hour during the day.

The Marmaris jeep safari is the day on your holiday where you stop being a tourist for a few hours and just have stupid fun. Wet clothes, mountain forest, traditional village lunch, walking on water at Kizkumu, and a story to tell on the plane home. It’s been our most-booked tour for over a decade for a reason. If your Marmaris holiday has room for one really memorable day out, this is the one we’d put your name down for.
