    About Marmaris Boat Trips

Marmaris Boat Trips — A Local Operator’s Guide

Marmaris is the boat trip capital of Turkey’s Aegean coast. A deep natural bay sheltered by pine-covered mountains, three separate working harbours, more than 200 licensed tour boats, and sea conditions that stay calm enough for daily sailing from May right through to the end of October. Whatever kind of day on the water you’re after — loud and family-orientated, calm and romantic, cultural, adventurous, or just a long lazy day in the sun — there’s a Marmaris boat trip that fits.

Below is everything worth knowing before you book. We’ve been running these trips out of Marmaris since 2014 and we’ll give you the honest version, not the brochure version.

What makes Marmaris such a popular destination for boat trips?

Three reasons, in roughly this order:

    • The geography: Marmaris sits inside a horseshoe-shaped natural bay that opens onto a chain of smaller bays, islands and coves stretching east toward Dalyan and west toward the Datça peninsula. The water inside the bay is sheltered from the open Aegean by the surrounding mountains, which means calm conditions almost every day in season and very little risk of motion sickness for first-time sailors.
    • The variety: Within a four-hour sail of Marmaris harbour you can reach the turquoise swimming bays around Turunc, the dramatic cliff caves at Phosphorus, the long sweep of Paradise Island, the protected Roman-era ruins of Kedrai on Cleopatra Island, and the river delta at Dalyan with its loggerhead turtle nesting beach. No two boat trips from Marmaris cover the same route, and most are different enough that visitors regularly do two or three across a single week.
    • The price and the convenience: Marmaris boat trips include hotel pickup, lunch on board and unlimited soft drinks as standard. Day prices start at £24, which makes a full day on the water cheaper than a meal at a decent restaurant back home.

Choosing the right Marmaris boat trip

The four daily boat trips we run cover four very different types of day. Here’s the honest comparison:

    The all-inclusive boat trip

The standard Marmaris boat day. Seven hours, three swimming stops at sheltered bays around the Marmaris gulf, open buffet lunch on board, unlimited soft drinks, music on deck through the afternoon. The boat carries 40-60 guests on most days. Best for couples, small groups and anyone wanting a relaxed full-day cruise without too much noise. From £24 per person — the most affordable option and the most popular boat we sell.

    The pirate boat trip

The loudest boat on the water. Three-deck themed ship, foam party machine on the upper deck, dance music through the day, swimming stops with rope swings, family lunch on board, and a crew that has been doing this since 2015 and knows exactly when to dial the energy up and when to leave a quiet group alone. Best for families with children old enough to swim, groups of friends, and anyone who wants the loud Marmaris boat day. From £29 per person, children 3 and under ride free.

    The Cleopatra Island tour

The quiet alternative. A traditional Turkish wooden gulet with sunbeds on the upper deck and shaded tables below, sailing into the Gulf of Gökova — generally considered the most beautiful stretch of coastline in this part of Turkey. Three swimming stops plus three hours on Cleopatra Island, where the protected white-shell beach and the ruins of the ancient Hellenistic city of Kedrai sit beside each other. Best for couples, history-minded travellers, families with very young children and anyone who prefers a calmer day on the water. From £30 per person.

    The Dalyan boat trip

The full-day cultural boat day. Minibus east from Marmaris to the Dalyan delta, then a flat-bottomed river boat through reed-lined channels to the loggerhead turtle nesting beach at Iztuzu, the thermal mud baths at Sultaniye, and past the second-century BC Lycian rock tombs carved into the cliff face above the river. Nine hours door to door, lunch on board. The most varied single day we run and the trip most guests describe as the highlight of their Marmaris holiday. From £28 per person.

What’s included on a Marmaris boat trip

Every boat trip we sell includes the same core package:

    • Hotel pickup by minibus from Marmaris centre, Siteler, Armutalan, Icmeler, Turunc and Hisaronu — no extra charge, the time confirmed by WhatsApp the evening before.
    • Open buffet lunch on board, usually built around grilled chicken and a range of cold starters, salads and fresh bread, with vegetarian options on request.
    • Unlimited soft drinks through the day — water, tea, Turkish coffee, cola, fanta.
    • English-speaking crew.
    • Full travel insurance.
    • Snorkel masks and life jackets on board in all sizes.

What is not included: Alcoholic drinks (paid at the on-board bar at reasonable prices), tips for the crew (entirely optional), photo and video service (offered separately by the photographer on board if you want it), and entry fees to specific protected sites — the Cleopatra Island entrance fee of €13 per adult is paid at the island gate, not in advance.

    Swimming stops and snorkelling spots

Most Marmaris boat trips include three swimming stops over the course of the day, typically thirty to sixty minutes each. The exact bays change with sea conditions and the captain’s preference, but the regular list is short and worth knowing:

    • Aquarium Bay: Clear shallow water, easy entry from the boat by ladder, ideal for snorkelling and the first swim of the day. Small fish are common around the rocks at the edge of the bay.
    • Phosphorus Cave: A dramatic sea cave on the cliff side, often just sailed past for the photograph rather than entered. The cave itself is short and the swimming is around the cliffs rather than inside.
    • Paradise Island: A long, narrow island with sheltered swimming on the south side. The deepest and warmest of the regular stops.
    • Kumlubuk: A small village bay with a pebble beach and one or two beachside restaurants. Some boats anchor here for a longer lunch stop.
    • Turunc Bay: The larger village further west, used by some routes as the final swimming stop before the return.

Note: For the Cleopatra Island and Dalyan trips the swimming stops are different — the Cleopatra route uses bays in the Gulf of Gökova, and Dalyan includes a long swim at Iztuzu beach itself.

The best time of year for Marmaris boat trips

The official Marmaris boat season runs from early May to the end of October. Within that window, sea temperatures and crowds shift significantly:

    • May and early June: Sea temperature 21–23°C, warm enough for unlimited swimming for most British visitors, very quiet on the water, boats often run with smaller groups. The most pleasant months for guests who don’t want crowds.
    • Late June, July, August: Peak season. Sea temperature 24–26°C, the warmest of the year. Every boat runs daily, all swimming stops are busy, and the resort is at its most lively. Best for families on summer school holidays and anyone wanting maximum sunshine.
    • September: The sweet spot for most British visitors. Sea temperature still 24–25°C from the summer’s warmth, the crowds thin out from mid-September, prices haven’t dropped yet but availability is easier and the weather is more settled.
    • October: Quieter and cooler, sea 21–22°C, still warm enough for swimming for most guests but starting to feel autumnal toward the end of the month. Boats run daily until 31 October, after which the season closes.

Marmaris boat trips for families with children

All four of our boat trips welcome children — the question is which one suits which age.

The pirate boat is the family favourite for children aged 5 and up, with the foam party, the swimming stops and the themed boat itself doing most of the entertaining. The Cleopatra Island gulet works well for families with very young children and infants, because the boat is quieter and the swimming at the island is in shallow protected water. The Dalyan day is best for children aged 6 and up who can handle a longer day. The all-inclusive boat trip works for families with children of any age, particularly if you want a calmer day than the pirate boat.

Children’s prices on all our boat trips are roughly half the adult fare. Infants under 3 ride free on most boats. Life jackets are provided in child sizes. Crews are used to families and will keep an eye on swimming children at the stops.

What to bring on a Marmaris boat trip

Less than you’d think. The boats provide sunbeds, shade, towels for the swimming stops, snorkel masks and life jackets.

You should bring: Swimwear (changed into before pickup is fine, the boat has changing space), sun cream and a hat (the boat decks have direct sun for most of the day), sunglasses, a light cover-up for the cooler late afternoon return, a phone or camera, and a small amount of cash if you want to buy alcoholic drinks at the bar or tip the crew at the end.

    Booking a Marmaris boat trip

    Three ways to book:

    1. Click any of the boat trips above to book online — you’ll get email confirmation immediately and a WhatsApp follow-up within the hour during normal daytime hours.
    2. WhatsApp us directly on +90 531 765 93 20.
    3. Walk into our office in central Marmaris on Kemal Seyfettin Elgin Bulvarı.

All three routes get the same fixed prices. No deposit, no card details, no booking fee. You pay the driver in cash on the morning of the trip. Cancellation is free at any point before pickup — because nothing was paid in advance, there’s nothing to refund.

If you’re planning two or more boat trips across your stay, send us the full list on WhatsApp and we’ll quote a combined package price, meaningfully better than booking each one separately.
